Girls Who Code: The Friendship Code (MG)

Lucy has joined the coding club at school so she can learn to build a app for her uncle who has cancer remember when to take his meds and which ones to take at certain times.  But the club is moving to slow, she asked, begged, everyone she knows to help her learn faster, but everyone tells her the same thing, this is something you can not rush you need to learning it in steps and be meticulous.  But then strange noted start showing up on Lucy's locker and in order to follow the direction she has to have the help of those around her, that means making new friends and reuniting with older ones, and finding strength she didn't know she had, not to mention finding help in hidden places.
This was a awesome  book for introduction to coding, but there are different types of coding and while the foundation is solid it would be nice to know somewhere what language this is they are teaching.  But I loved how the friendship came together over code and how they found to one important thing that really needed to be tackled and that is what they started to do at the end.  But the clues along the way to teach the foundation and the awesome way they found to root out the mysterious note leaver was awesome this is such a cool book, and if you ask any one I am always a sucker for computer coding books anyways but this one is awesome I can't wait to see what  the friend get up to next.

The Siege (YA)

The Siege, sequel to The Six , is just as explosive.  Almost everyone is back, and even though they thought their foe was gone Sigma was just hiding until he could become strong enough again to come after the special one.  Special one?  Who knew there was a special one and which is it? And now there might be a traitor amongst the Pioneer ranks, what can be worse, asking Alex to figure out which of his friends is the traitor that is what can be worse.  All the while Sigma is attacking Alex's hometown relentlessly, and for what?
This book keeps up all the action and suspense Mr. Alpert's readers have come to love along with many twists and turns that they won't see coming.  This is a awesome sequel to The Six and a great segway into The Silence the next book in the series. This is a great sci-fi series with a lot of robotics thrown in.  There  is also a lot to think about as far as morality goes but can just also just be a fun read so take what you will but have fun reading it as it is a great book/series.

Alpha Wolf: Olento Research Series Book One (ADULT AUDIO)

Twelve men go missing, all with similar backgrounds, but after all this time no one is looking for them, except the Lucidites and that is because they know what they are now and they need to protect the regular humans from them. When Addie gets the Alpha and finds out what happened she knows it is a race against the clock and Olento to get the rest of these men and to figure out how this happened and how the Lucidites can help fix this.
Sarah Noffke has another winning series on her hands as she cross the Lucidites with werewolfs, along with the non stop action, and intense suspense, coupled with  Adelaide snark even though she isn't quite Ren she is learning fast.  Narrator Elizabeth Klett pulls it all together with her different voices and awesome narration of this book she really brings this world of dream travelers alive and it is one I wish I could live in sometimes, ok a lot of the time.  This is a awesome book and looking to be a awesome series, and I can't wait for more.

The Unwelcomed The Uninvited Book 3 (ADULT AUDIO)

The Stranger thinks it is time to retire and goes and finds a place deep in a huge piece of woods where hopefully people won't bother him and  most of all temp him back to killing ways.  But that doesn't happen and the stranger finds he was ready to hang up his ax.  But how close did FBI agent Grey get while the Stranger was taking his break?
This is another welcomed book from Evans, after almost a year since The Stranger came out on audio, and another warning it is probably no one you want to listing to late at night, by yourself, especially in a older creakier house.  Narrator SW Salzman makes it creepy enough with the voices he uses, you won't want anything else to freak you out, as this book is not for those faint at heart.  But both author and narrator do such a awesome job that you just can't stop once you get started, so I am warning you now, last time, really no turning back.

The Ring of Carnac Book II in the Tales of Gaspar (MG AUDIO)

Kay, Jerra, and all of their friends are back as they must stop the mean witch from setting lose the fire elemental and destroying everything.  But they need the ring to stop her the only problem is it has been lost for hundreds of years and the clock is ticking, will a obscure clue from one of Alimin's crazy wizard friends help them?
To say that this book has non stop action is not enough to do it justice, the action really never ends in this book and the suspense at times you can cut with a knife.  I had the audio narrated by Fred  Wolinsky and he sucks you in to the world and brings you along as part of the team, and at times you really wish you could help them in their quest.  Mr. Wolinsky's voices for each of the character is awesome and you will come to love each and every one of them as friends they will become.

The Epic Crush of Genie Lo (YA)

It was just another ordinary day for Genie Lo on her way to school thinking of all she needed to accomplish on her to do list for the day, when she noticed a boy being beaten in a ally and knew she had to do something. By throwing her backpack at the men and distracting them it was just enough to stop them, but now she has to run to school so they don't beat her, but that isn't what she is worried about, nope, it is her missing notes and books.  But than her backpack is there along with a new student, the monkey king from the stories of old.
This was a great story mixing modern with ancient lore, with a lot of  action, suspense and there are a few twists and turns that will keep you on your toes, but all and all  it is a book that captures your interest and you wont want to put it down.  I really hope we get to see more of Genie and Quentin soon.

Survive: Camp Terror (MG)

After being closed for many years Camp Dream Haven has finally reopened but the stories are still told around the campfire of the boy who disappeared all those years ago.  But camp counselor Telly laughs and tells the campers the real reason the camp closed was over land right.  But when Telly's group gets lost on a rafting trip and her brother and another camper who needs medicine on a regular basis goes over a water fall after the raft gets flipped right before night fall, it seems the camps bad luck has started again.
This book is full of action, suspense and more that a few twists and turns.  It also  has some nice Native American folk lore added in that lends itself nicely to the book.  This is a awesome book for many age groups and shows great diversity, it will also appeal to reluctant readers as well as children growing up in many different circumstances.

The Lost Boys (GRAPHIC NOVEL)

If you've seen the movie and ever wondered what happened in Santa Clara after Max and rest of the blood suckers goo has been washed away, here is your chance.  Michael and Sam are back along with Star, Laddie and of course the Frog brothers and it seems there is a new female coven of vamps that has moved to town and they call themselves the Blood Belles. So who will win this  battle of the beaches?
This is a very entertaining graphic novel especially for me since I was a big fan of the Lost Boys as a movie when I was kid (UGH dating myself there), I could still hear the sound track playing in the background as I read this graphic novel.  But it was a blast from the past and I really liked it.  The illustrations were awesome, as was the story line!!! It was really so cool, and I hope to actually be able to own these some day (public librarians do not actually make enough to own every book they want and live), but these actually rank really high on my list, sorry Ironman.

Mass Hysteria (ADULT)

After a meteor shower one summer night all seems well, that is until the next day... Planes fall from the sky, dogs and cats attack their owners, bird come from the sky to peck beach goers to death, the world is going vial, and will the people be next?  No one knows what is going on.
This story is not for the faint of heart, but if you  like good old fashion horror with a updated twist, than Falls Breath is the town for you.  This little beach, touristy town is now a lawless everything for itself spot on the map, what they don't know is if it is this way everywhere else in the USA.  With all the communication and most of the transportation knocked out it doesn't look like they will find out either.  It leaves every person for themselves and that gets messy.
This action packed, suspenseful book will leave you surprised more than once, and that will keep you on your toes, no figuring out the ending in this book, so just read and enjoy.  It is a lot of fun, I wonder if there will be more to see what happens later, or if this was it, either or it was still awesome.

Illusion Book Four of the Grimoire Saga (YA AUDIO)

This, the last few grains of sand in the hour glass of time for Kara and Braeden, and the lands they love as the war comes to a end, but will they win and get more time or lose and everyone runs out of time?  Kara will do anything to win and give her land the time to heal and that scares Braeden to death, because despite his feelings it is not a luxury he can afford for her.  They think they have everything figured out down to the timing, except for one variable, the traitorous blood among them.
This was a bitter sweet book for me, it was just as action packed, suspense filled, and had all the twists and turns I have come to love, but I was sad that this was the last of the series, I don't think I was prepared to let Kara, Braeden, Stone, and First Vagabond go yet, they where such awesome strong characters, that I have grown to love. Listening to the series with Kara Kovacich Stewart narrating and giving each of the character a voice I have each of them, and the whole land of Ourea, pictured in mind just through her awesome descriptions.  Between the authors words and the narrators voice talent I was there fighting for Ourea, and it was awesome, and I will miss it tremendously.

The List (MG) (YA)

Letta is a wordsmith on the Ark, the last safe place on the earth.  She is the keeper of the words, she makes the official list that people are allowed to use because it was the over use of words that caused the last catastrophe that pretty much wiped out the earth and everything on it.  There is no more music because that was a frivolous use of words.  But there are people that live on the outskirts of the Ark that believe differently and they are trying to start a revolution.   Letta is forced with a horrid decision as her leader keeps cutting more and more words, to stay and accept the way things are or rebel and fight for the words she holds dear.
This is a awesome book and one that makes you think on so many different levels.  I am sure a middle grade reader might find certain things in their life's to fight for that would be different that a young adult or adult, but it makes each think of those things and how they might go about it in their everyday life same as Letta did.  This is a powerful book and I hope it will make one of this generations classics.

Prehistoric Beasts and Where to Fight Them (ADULT AUDIO)

Everyone is on the hunt for gigadon the super huge beast that pretty much killed famed film director Jake Bentneus and who is now offering a one billion dollar prize to the person or team that brings him the head of gigadon, including his own dream team.
Author Navikov has a way with story telling.  The non-stop action, suspense, and twists all were awesomely placed, with the horror sprinkled all around.  The characters are all well defined and play well off of each other and if you have the audio narrated by S W Salzman than you are really in for a treat, as he has voices for each character and Slip Jack's voice is pretty cool.  Salzman can easily suck you into the story like you are on Spit with the team, just by listening, his voice is mesmerizing,  and well worth the audiobook.

Without You Book 1 In The Changing Hearts Series (YA 14+ AUDIO)

Ariana meets Lucas her senior year and he is everything a girl could ever want, except she has always wanted University of Georgia and has done everything she can to get there and afford it, scholarships and all, and he can't go.  So is it Lucas or U of G and will there be any regrets over her choices?
This is a awesome book with very real teenage problems weaved throughout the book, ones teens face day to day and the ones the deal with going off to college. I really enjoyed this book for the fact that it was kept realistic on all levels.  Narrator Ramona Master made this book especially wonderful by her beautiful narration, her portrayal of the different characters was awesome and the feeling and emotion she interjected in to the story, through her voice was phenomenal.  It was really good you should give it a try if you have never tried one before.

The Dark Net (ADULT)

The dark net is a place for people to go to stay anonymous and still do their illegal and illicit deeds on a far corner of the web, a spot so deep you can't be traced or found, but now there are even shadier creatures lurking there, literally.  There is a small group that stands in their way of dominating present day Portland, fifteen year old Hannah, her Aunt Lela, Juniper, and Derek, in a very real struggle for the dark and the light.
When I first read about the book I thought it was all computers, I have to tell you right now it is not.  So if you are not the tech savvy, all computer, code in the book, kind of lover, than you will love this book.  This book is more about the fight between the light and the dark, a age old tale with a very new spin on it and that is fresh.  I really enjoyed this book with the strong characters and thought out plot, it keeps you wanting to read on well past your bedtime.

Sparks of Light (YA)

A riveting sequel to Into the Dim, Sparks of Light brings back the whole gang and after learning of plans to steal a time traveling device  from 1800's New York, off they go on their own adventure to get it  first and save the timeline from utter chaos.  And who better than the renown scientist Nikola Tesla to have discovered it and built it, with some very bad help.  Will to love conquer all or will death reign in this arena to see who gets the device first?
This is another awesome book filled  with action, history, science, more action, twist and turns you won't see coming, a little romance (but not a lot), and even more action that does not stop.  I loved this book it really keeps you on your toes, every bit of it is a cliffhanger, you never want to put it  down because you just want to see what is going to happen next.  I took a while for this book to come out but it surely will not disappoint.

Genius: The Con (YA)

Sequel to Genius: The Game this book starts out right where the story left off, however, if you read on it does fill in the blanks so you don't necessarily have to have read book one, but it is a really good book and you will want to read it anyways after reading this one so why not go ahead and read them in order.  :)
Painted Wolf gets Rex and Tunde out of dodge and into Tunde's village with his special EMP weapon for the local warlord that is holding Tunde's family and people hostage.  But the three teens have also came with plans to hopefully defeat the warlord once and for all, but if it doesn't work they will kill everyone, and never find Rex's brother.
This is such a non stop action packed book, I just could not put it down.  If you like techy stuff and books filled with action all the time this is for you.  The three main characters are so cool I would love to tag along with them some time and just watch them do their thing and maybe learn something. I think Painted Wolf is my hero, but Rex is so cool on the computer, but I am more like Tunde with mechanical skills.  So it is easy to find something of yourself in at least one of  the characters and follow that along in the story so it is like you are there, in the action with them.  So much fun!
