Threat of Revenge (Dakota K-9 Unit)

Following a gun trafficking tip Officer Jena Morrow and her K-9 partner Augie find themselves in a small North Dakota town, and everywhere they turn things are getting blown up, even Jenna’s friend isn’t safe and Jenna can’t stay at her house now.  A local rancher has her come stay at his place even though Jenna’s ex-boyfriend, a local officer, doesn’t like rancher Clay.  They find Clay’s ranch isn’t so safe either so it is now either the killer or Jenna, Clay and Augie.

I have fallen in love with the different K-9 series and this is no different.  It shows that the author has studied up on the police procedure and K-9 practices. Without doing the job or someone there to answer all questions this book and the others would be so hard to write as   K-9 training isn’t even remotely the same as it used to be.  This author is wonderful and the book well thought out.  The narrator of the audio book Courtney Patterson was phenomenal, I loved every bit the roller coaster ride they put me on and still want more.

Troublesome Tonsils

I found this book intriguing as I had my tonsils out as a 16-year-old and I wanted my tonsils back in a jar only to see the things that derailed my whole summer.

Charlie marmot needs his tonsils out because they keep getting infected too.  Charlie Also wanted to get his tonsils back but for show and tell, and that is when Charlie’s problems start.  At first is wasn’t much something in his room was moved during the night.  The night before his surgery Charlie is kept awake by strange slurping noises.  But the biggest surprise was what the doctor told him before his surgery was to begin.

Let me tell you dear reader that I would have been ways more scared if this all happened before my surgery as well.  I really liked this book it is so well told and Charlie has some of the same feeling I had.  The pictures are so awesome.  I loved the characters, the story and the suspense.  This is a cute book.

War of the Wasteland (School of Janitors)

Landon and Jade are in training to be wizard like janitors, they don’t have much to go on to help find the BEM agents and stop locksmith but they do know a thingamajunk or two.  But when things go wrong and someone lets General Clean help now everyone servites have changed back to toxites and Jade’s is still is hooked to it’s booster pack.  Landon goes into the landfill and pretends to be a thingamajunk, only without his servites breath of energy Landon is finding it very hard to stay as a megalajunk but he will find a way to get his best buddy back and hopefully mess up any plans the locksmith has.

First, it looks like this is the end of the trash trilogy and that makes me really sad but hopefully there are plans out there for another spin off series.  That being said I have loved this series since day one and it is even better now.  The characters are wonderful and show real emotions and that really brings them to life, but for me the cute little servites steal the show.  Tell me really, is there anyone out there who wouldn’t like one?  This book also shows how friends can come together and accomplish almost everything.  These books are positive and show teamwork is valued.  I love this series!

Hurricane Heist (The Sherlock Society)

When a cat 3 hurricane hits Miami is uncovers something more than the usual debris, it uncovered a body, and at the Moroccan Hotel.  It is the body of a hotel worker from many years earlier that was accused of stealing millions of dollars’ worth of jewels. The Sherlock Society takes this mystery on as it is very clear now that worker did not steal those jewels and the Sherlocks need to find out who really did the crime.  Of course, they can’t do it without the stories in the paper’s archives, people that knew these people from back then and a person who can drive them where they need to go, and Grandpa is ready and raring to go.

I really like these Sherlock Books as well as the City Spy books as well.  They are all filled with non-stop action and tons of suspense.  I love the characters especially Grandpa, they learn and grow together, grandpa’s paper and old ways of doing things and the kid’s new way of doing things through technology.  This is a good book for reluctant readers as well as any aspiring detectives.  It is a fun book but has a serious side of needing to solve the crime and give a innocent man back his name.

Undercover Latina

Andrea is a 14-year-old whose family all work for the Factory an international organization that protects people of color.  Her assignment is to gain the trust of a boy at school whose dad is the leader of a dangerous white supremacist.  Andrea can not let him or anyone on this job know she is Latina, especially when you get a crush on the targets best friend.  Andrea needs to keep her hair straight, her language straight, her head straight and keep her good geek vibes going in the comics and gaming, if she is going to succeed.

I love action packed spy books that feature teens.  I just can’t imagine anyone better for this job than Andrea’s character.  She is a wonderful character not just showing the agent side but the human side when she develops her crush.  I love the stories action but the suspense that shows up periodically throughout the book is intense.  I really enjoyed this book and cannot wait until I can get the next one.

The Academy II The Journey Continues

Leo is making his dream come true, he has worked hard and it has paid off he is a player on the U14 team, but not exactly the London Dragons, but the same league.  He is a member of the Lewisham Knights; however, he isn’t a starter, the team is in last place, and if they don’t win the top spot by the end of the season the owner is not going to keep the U14 team anymore.  Leo has to find a way to get on the field, and get the coach to see they need to change the way they play or they will never win a match.  But Leo can’t do it by himself he needs his team behind him.

Oh my this book has a lot of action, and even more suspense than the first book.  These characters are just as wonderful as the last and a bunch do make a repeat appearance, after all they play in the same league.  Even though Messi still isn’t there with Leo he is still giving him help from afar.  The story line is wonderful it picks up where the first one left off, but there was still a break in it.  I love how Leo’s friends are still there for him and they all joke around about Leo’s playing.  This series is wonderful for reluctant reader especially if they like sports, soccer in particular.  I have loved this series and now have to wait for then next to come out, I hope it is soon.

The Academy

12-year-old Leo has never really left his little town where he is the local soccer star.  But when a chance encounter brings a recruiter to one of his games he is extended an offer to a youth soccer camp and tryout for the London Dragons youth development team.  Leo is so excited that his dreams are starting to come true, but they are soon slowed down when Leo gets a rude awakening that he is one of the few players there that hasn’t had formal training and that makes his dreams even harder to reach.  Can Leo’s creative playing work out for him in the end?

Oh my gosh I totally loved it all.  I was a soccer player in my younger (and much better knees) years, and after watching some shows that also feature some of what is going on here, it made it even more interesting.  I devoured this book and it’s second part The Academy II the Journey Continues and cannot wait for more.  The characters are awesome and relatable even Messi was there cheering Leo on and helping him make good choices from afar.  This book is action packed and has its very suspenseful moments.  This is a book that will keep any soccer player engaged.  It is a really good book and I cannot wait for more.
