Legendarium (ADULT AUDIO)

Every so often certain people are chosen to protect the Legendarium from the forces that threaten to send the Earth back into darkness.  This generation it is Bombo Dawson, a new author, and Alistair Foley, a reviewer who pretty much hates everything he reads especially Bombo Dawson's  works, that are chosen to protect the Legendarium.  Their adventures take them through the looking glass all the way to Moby Dick, the only book they seem to agree on liking.
If you like history and literature you will love this  book as it is chalked full of both, although, I have to say I am not much of a fan of both, and I actually loved the book, I guess I loved how the authors brought it to life.  I mean heck you got to love it when Hemmingway wanted to punch Alistair in the nose for messing up his story.  I think this book is quite likely the most overlooked book of our time, and I enjoyed every minute of it.  I would also like to thank Robert Rossmann who was the awesome narrator of the audiobook version which I had and was so good I can not speak highly enough of it.  He did such a great job on all of the characters voices and bringing the story (or should I say stories) to life it was great, I really hope Bombo and Alistair come back again.  If the do I'll buy the doughnuts.

Secret Coders: Paths and Portals (MG)

The is the second book in the series the first Secret Coders is also a awesome book for young coders wishing to get in on the ground floor.  These books start with three unlikely kids that are thrown together by chance, but each brings something to this team that will help with the journey of learning code and they do it the fun way.  These books are made for everyone even the most reluctant of readers will find these books fun and exciting.  The chapters are short and leave you hanging and wanting to know what happens and to know more so it will keep everyone reading, who knows mom and dad even you or grandmother and granddad might pick up a little code too if you don't watch out.

The Hill (YA)

Jared, a spoiled rich kid, plane crashes in the wilderness.  When he insists on hiking up a hill to try and get a cell signal, that Kyle, a Cree, has told him his grandmother has forbidden him to go near.  Jared goes anyways believing it is just Cree superstition, and Kyle reluctantly follows.  Soon both boys find themselves in a forest that just isn't right and now they are being hunted.
This is a out of this world book for anyone who enjoys lore and legends especially Native American lore.  This is my first book by Karen Bass but I loved it and will be looking for more.  This book is full of action, suspense, and has you on the edge of your seat  the whole time holding your breath.  I really enjoyed this book and wish Jared and Kyle would take me with them to see Crazy Horse as it is on my wish list also if they get to go.

Flashpoint (ADULT)

Taylor goes back and tries to save her homeworld from total destruction doing the one thing she never  wanted to do again, but she might be the only one that can stop it.  But there are also other political tug a wars going on across the galaxy that might do even more damage if not handled right and by the proper people.  Can the son of a dead politician help prevent another huge mistake from happening?
This book sends you to many places and you meet a lot of people, and if you can keep them all straight in this awesome, action packed, galaxy of a book you will love it.  The book moves fast and the characters a re well rounded and have interesting backstories that set them up nicely.  The story was great and I can't wait for the Drive Maker book 2 of the trilogy to come out, and I really hope these come out on audio.

This is me (ADULT)

Rogan is a assist AI, given to Chloe as a graduation gift for companionship and protection in the city as she looks for a new job and herself, all while trying to pay the bills.  But the day her very obedient, funny, dependably, wonderful, loving, AI decides he doesn't want to be that way anymore and disobeys Chloe, makes her start to think of him in a very different light.  Is this what her friends have been trying to tell her or is there something more going on?
Even though this was suppose to be a romance story I found it to be a much more thought provoking story on AI and how they could possible evolve on their own depending on love and developing emotions and what that would mean for the human race.  This was a very well thought out book with well rounded characters that where full and complete.  I am not much of a romance fan but loved the sci-fi part and still found this book mesmerized me and kept me wondering what will happen to Rogan and what will Chloe do.  I think you will find this book interesting no matter which genre you favor.

Reflections: A Whitney Steel Novel (ADULT AUDIO)

Reporter Whitney Steel is looking for the big story and when she catches a lead on the first cloned human, a small girl named Angel, it is almost the death of her.  In steps undercover FBI Agent Blake (cutey guy)to save the day, well I think it turn into a week, thereabouts.  But he also has his own job and agenda to take care of, besides keeping a nosey reporter in one piece, especially one he has fallen in love with.
This is a great book with non-stop action and some well placed twists and turns to keep you guessing.  The characters are well rounded and likeable, well most of them.  The story flows at a great pace.  I had the audio version and found that narrator Rebecca Hansen did a great job on the different characters voices, especially as she settled into them.  Which ever format you choose I hope you will love Whitney and Blake as much as I do as I hear the are coming back for more books so look for the next book called Retribution out now, and the audio coming soon.

The Secret Sea (YA)

This book is true Barry Lyga in the fact that there are so many twists, turns and traps that you won't see what is coming a mile away.  This book is awesome and literally takes you into another world like you have never seen before.
