The Other Side Of Nowhere and Other Stories (ADULT AUDIO)

These are three wonderful short stories by author J N Chaney.
Feral - is about a tribe in Africa that has transfiguration abilities, only when they are young they can not control the ability to well and if they can into, say a predatory animal, well that is not so good for the other normal tribes around them.  So how do the elders deal with it? Read the story and find out.
The Other Side of Nowhere - is about a patient in a hospital struggling to stay alive, and his life flashes before his eyes, but there is a side door.  Is it a dream or a nightmare?  Read the story and find out.
Lastly my favorite story is Jonah - it is about a doctor that is brought in to psychoanalyze the first living machine, Jonah.  But what happens when the makers want to put a end to this gentle, genius, awesome, caring AI?  Well a doctors first duty is to do no harm, but how can he do his job with a computer?  Read the story and find out, you won't be disappointed.  All of these stories are awesome I hope you love them as much as I do, they all have action, suspense, and some twists and turns to them, that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Audiobook narrator Raina Marie tells these stories well although listen carefully for the story breaks or you might be a bit confused for a few seconds as she tends to very quickly.

Solomon Scroll The Project Book 10 (ADULT AUDIO)

Why does the Project Team always get the whack jobs?  This time it's some guy who thinks he is the last high priest and he wants the Solomon Scrolls for the power he thinks it will give him.  Meanwhile, countries are arguing over sacred sites they didn't know existed, the team gets shot at and looses a member, and there are bombs going off.  For once  this isn't even a normal day for the team of the Project not even close.  This action packed thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat the whole time as Alex Lukeman comes out with guns blazing in this the tenth book of the Project series and he never backs down.  Audiobook narrator Jack de Golia makes sure you feel like you are part of the team and the Project world, as his wonderful voice and art of storytelling can transform a simple drive home in your Honda into a tactical drive in a Hummer while being fired at.  Mr. de Golia makes these books so much more fun if you have not tried them you are missing out.

Paralyzed a Tale of Secrets: Vagabond Circus Book 2 (ADULT AUDIO)

When the worst happens to Vagabond Circus, Zuma and Finley must try and put the pieces back together.  Paralyzed is a book that strips all the pieces of their illusions away and shows you what a harsh world these performers have always lived in and what Dr. Dave Raydon always tried to protect them from, people like Charles Knight.  But Paralyzed will also show you the love and caring this family has for one another, a love story? Maybe, in a sense, but filled with action, suspense, and leave you ready for book 3, Released.
Narrator Steve Barnes in the audiobook, transforms the whole story so you feel like you are there and a part of the circus, he has a way of making you feel the part, sad, when you should be,  ready to help when Zuma or Jack need it, and always on the edge of your seat.  Mr. Barnes is really a very talented storyteller, and not one to be missed, I will be waiting for Released in audio.

BANG (YA)

Ten years ago Sebastian did something he can’t forgive himself for, it was so horrible that while his only friend is away for the summer Sebastian plans on letting his dark side take over and take away his pain forever.  But then enters a girl, Aneesa, what does that do to his summer plans?
Bang is a wonderful book, it gives you a glimpse into the mind of a person in constant pain, a person that cannot find a way to ease this awful pain in anyway.  This book is about Sebastian a fictional character with a fictional pain, however this could easily be about any number of real people with real pain just look at projectsemicolon.org.  I don’t want to give anything away but this is an awesome book by author Barry Lyga and well worth the read, it brings real world headlines into a fictional storyline in a seamless way.

It's A Bad Bad Bad Bad World (ADULT AUDIO)

Pawn store guy, junkies, assassin nun, crooked cop, serial killer porn couple, occult weirdo, a Rhodesian, and more.  All willing to kill each other and more to get these two swords that may or may not be the fountain of youth.  My favorite is the assassin nun, Sister Michelle, you got to love Kevlar vestments.  But there are no good guys in this book they are all bad it is just which is not as bad as the rest.
This book is definitely filled with a ton of action and suspense.  Every time you think you have this story figured out the author calls squirrel and takes you off on a different and wonderful direction, it really keeps you on your toes.  All of his character are well put together and you will find something to like even in the ones you don't like.
Audiobook narrator Fred Wolinsky takes this book and makes each and every character different and unique.  He gives them different voices and different attitudes, Mr. Wolinsky makes you feel as if you are there in the story either helping your favorite character and hindering his enemies, but you are there with them in the story, seeing, hearing, feeling, everything and that makes for a awesome performance.

The Duality Bridge Singularity 2 (YA AUDIO)

Eli, is now a face of the resistance whether he wants to be or not.  His fugue state is also changing it is taking him deeper and for longer.  It is showing him so much more not just how to paint anymore, and he doesn't know who he can trust to talk about this with, it seems everyone has their own agenda when it comes to him.  This is another wonderful action packed, suspenseful book set in the future where the Ascenders  (human/machine hybrids) are the powerful, the revered, the feared, and the pitied (at least by some like Eli).  Is Eli the coming bridge or not, that is the huge question that both the resistance and the Ascenders want to know now, and will go to great lengths to find out.
I have been fan of Ms. Quinn's books for a long time and that hasn't changed with this book, it was awesome.  Audiobook narrator Nick Podehl made this world even better by lending his voice (or maybe I should say voices) to this awesome book and ascending the listener to another level, if you are a audiobook listener like me than this is one you will not want to miss Mr. Podehl is wonderful performance, somehow I missed the first book and will have to go back and find that one so I can listen to this one again, it is that good.

Dragonwatch (MG)

Kendra, Seth and all of their friends are back (and we meet new ones as well) and this time it is the dragons that are causing all of the problems.  It seems that Kendra and Seth are needed at another preserve, Wyrmroost.  Can the two keep it together and save the preserve and calm the dragons, or will Seth's antics leave his sister staring the dragons down on her own?
If you loved Fablehaven you are in for a treat, it is as if you never left, this is the story continued, and it is wonderful.  Action, suspense, twists and turns, and don't for get the satyrs, yep they are back as well and helping Seth at every turn. The book is totally awesome and not to be missed by fans of Brandon Mull's Fablehaven world, we only hope he doesn't make us wait to awful long for the next one.

MAX (YA)

This is a very interesting historical fiction book set in Nazi Germany.  The Lebensborn Program is going strong and women are selected by their Aryan features and linage, to reproduce.  The babies are taken away from their mothers soon after birth and raised basically by the Nazi party, Max often says his mother is Germany and his father is the Fuhrer.  You first meet Max before he is born, because he doesn't want to be born yet, it is only April 19th, he wants to be the first to be born on April 20th, so he and the Fuhrer can have the same birthday, he makes it.  As Max grows older he becomes for the most part, the poster child for the Nazi party, but not everything goes exactly as planned.  This book was a bit slow in the beginning but than it exploded as Max did with growth.  The story and the historical information starts moving at warp speed and wow, what a book  it is.

The Longest Con (ADULT)

A group of twenty somethings are eager to prove to their con artist parents they are ready to go out on their own.  So to do so they must pull one last con for their parents, but it is a hard one, so hard it has not been done in a very long time, and if anything goes wrong the consequences are dire, dire like death by airlock dire.
This is a very unique short story, I guess I never thought about futuristic con artist before.  So much for my rose colored glasses.  These characters and the story had to have been thought out five steps ahead for all of their cons and personalities to work with all the different situations.  This book was not only amazing in the way it all came together and worked together but in how it all ended, which you will just have to read to find out for yourself, but you won't be disappointed.

The Sac'A'Rith Lost Tales of Power Book 5 (ADULT AUDIO)

Across the galaxy from the wizards a new darkness is attacking stations and leaving them wraith infested and useless.  That is until the Sac'a'rith come, but can they finally figure out who is behind these attacks and stop them, before the darkness gets them?
This book takes you away from the wizards and introduces you to other races in the galaxy, and while that is different it is not a bad thing at all, this book is just as good and just as action and suspense filled as all the rest, it is well worth your time, and I hope it is not the last we see of the Sac'a'rith.  Audiobook narrator Jack De Golia really brought this book to another level and transformed the listener to another world, the one where the story is taking place and the listener can live there for a while so they can live in the story not just listen to it.

Rune Gate: The Rune Gate Cycle Book One (YA AUDIO)

Alex gets called to a crime scene, only the odd part is she is not with the police, she is a witch, one that can read minds and see things that happen.  Then when she meets up with Douglas, a man from the past (and another dimension) all bets are off.  But the strange killings make more sense now, but stopping them might be more problematic for the two, and how to explain it all to a sheriff that hardly believes in what Alex does might be out of the question altogether.
This book was very interesting, I really loved all the paranormal/fantasy aspects, and how everything was so well thought out, everything made sense, there where no holes in the story.  The action and suspense mixed with the backstories and other parts all made for a happy medium in this book.
Audiobook narrator Mikael Naramore did a awesome job with all the different voices, he had me there trying to help Alex and Douglas, or just helping with the horses around the farm.  I found myself not wanting to get out of my car, I just wanted to keep listening.

Dirge (ADULT AUDIO)

This is the dark protecting the dark story.  But the Dirge plays her roll very well, both sides of it.  Dirge/Kallie is a most complicated character having inherited many of Rellan's, a preist,  powers upon his death so she can fight those he could not due to his faith, but still her best friends are two clerics that try and help guide her.
This story twists and turns more than a roller coaster and has action galore.  Dirge/Kallie is a strong and complex character that is well put together and will surprise you in many ways.
The audio narrated by Kara Kovacich Stewart is awesome and not one to be missed.  Ms. Kovacich Stewart does such a great job on all the different voices for each character, I never get lost, it is as if I am right there living the story along with the characters.  I really love listening to audiobooks, that Ms. Kovacich Stewart narrates.

The Nocturnals: The Ominous Eye Book 2 (MG)

Our trio of friends, Dawn the fox, Bismark the sugar glider, and Tobin the Pangolin are off to investigate another mystery.  This time it was a huge jolt and a ton of ash falling all over their forest home.  Soon they meet a unfamiliar reptile that says she can help but can she be trusted?
This is such a cute book for middle grade readers on up or for little one to be read too.  With all the different animals and a mystery that will hold the reader captive until the end when all is finally revealed.  The illustrator, Kate Leibman, with her warm water color pictures add a awesome touch throughout the book.
There is also a multimedia site setup for the books at www.nocturnalsworld.com for children to interact and learn more about the nocturnal brigade and their nighttime world.

The Bone Witch (YA)

When Tea accidentally resurrected her soldier brother from the dead it changed her life's path forever.  Although she's not sure if it is for the better or not, but Tea better learn fast for there is darkness coming, and it will be Tea who has to make the tough choices.

This is such a beautiful book to have such dark forces corrupt it's pages.  The older witch takes the younger and teaches her the Asha ways, just like the Geisha teach.  But Tea must also learn how to fight and defeat the dark, almost like one of the pretty dances described in the book.  The author has weaved a very awesome mesmerizing tale, it is so good and powerful she will have hold of you until the very end when she chooses to let you go and it will leave you gasping for the next book in the series.

5 STARS

Suicide Squad (ADULT)

I was never a comic book reader but that is changing, and fast.  D.C. Comics has me hooked and Suicide Squad is just the latest in the awesome  comics I have read from their publishing house.  Suicide Squad The Black Vault is part of D.C. Rebirth (this gives you all the back stories on all of the characters in the comic, awesome for people like me new to the series), has all of the characters that you know and love or will get to know and love, like Capt. Flag, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Killer Croc, Boomerang, Enchantress, Katana, and Waller, not to mention all the gruesome bad guys.  This was a awesome action packed first edition and I can't wait for the next.
