The Fort (MG)

The morning after a hurricane comes through their town the power is out and there isn't much to do but check out the destruction and their fort.  But then when Evan shows up to meet his friends with Ricky, a new kid, in tow that Evan's grandmother made him take with him, Evan's friends are not very happy.  The boys are upset to find their fort in ruins, but when looking around Ricky finds a hatch to the best thing ever, a fully stocked bomb shelter.  But what happens in the next weeks/months makes it more special than any of the boys could ever imagine.

This book is wonderful, it shows the true meaning of friendship with old friends and new.  It shows what you think may be one thing might be something very different.  That a great dad might not be so great and a so so dad might be a great dad.  It shows that pretty much everyone has heartache in their lives and can relate in one way or another.  It shows no one is truly alone if they just look around.  And it shows help can come from a place you never think of.  This book is another hit for Author Gordon Korman as he writes from a place kids can truly relate too.

Ham Helsing #2: Monster Hunter (MG GRAPIC NOVEL)

Ham has been left with he job he never wanted, hunting vampires and other monsters.  The job should have been his fearless brothers but he died, twice now.  He and his friends have been invited to camp Fish Head as guests of honor only to find campers showing up and no staff in sight.  Each camper has their own fears, one is bugs, one is its own shadow, and so on.  As Ham tries to make it camp like for the campers he soon finds it hard with their fears, not to mention the campers are disappearing.  Ham and his friends must get the kids back before their parents come, but where are they?

This is a cute series and this book teaches in its way about growing up.  I liked this story and series a lot and hope everyone else will too.  This book is great for everyone and even reluctant readers will find Ham and his friends fun.  I can't wait to find out where they go from here.

The Tyr: Arrival: The Tyr Trilogy, Book 1 (ADULT AUDIO)

Daniel fought as a soldier for a long time but gave it all up for a science job a safer job.  He was supposed to study the Tyr over several years their mission was to have ended when the replacements arrived, however Daniel found out that the replacements job was to obliterate the Tyr, now Daniel must find a away to do what is right.

This was a wonderful, exciting book.  It has plenty of action and some suspense.  The audio was wonderful to listen to as narrator R.C. Bray did a awesome job bringing it all to life through his voice.  I can't wait to see what happens to the Tyr, Daniel and Daniels family in the next book.

A Misuse of Time: Broken Wand Academy, Episode 4 (YA AUDIO)

This series is one that will grab you and not let go until it is over.  In this book Meena shows her strength in all she does.  She goes back to her dad through Braden's portal but gets yanked to another place before she gets to hear the whole story of her mom's and her past.  She soon finds herself fleeing the Broken Wand academy for the Gladwell academy with a wolf shifter she seems to be able to talk to through her mom's family connection so she thinks.

This is another wonderful book in the Broken Wand Academy series.  I have had so much fun listening to these stories and am hoping there is more to come.  The characters have grabbed my heart and I am not ready to leave them yet.  I also can not say enough about narrator Nara Naranjit and how wonderful the audios have been.  This book (and series) is wonderful and I hope you all like it as much as I do.
