Fizzopolis: The Trouble with Fuzzwonker Fizz (MG)

This book is about Harold Fuzzwonker and his best good buddy Floyd.  Harold can be a daredevil and Floyd a bit ADHD, but they are the best of friends, and Harold's job is to babysit Floyd, keep him out of trouble, and above all keep him hidden!  But when Harold takes Floyd to school with him in his backpack, Floyd gets bored and has very different plans for the rest of his day, including looking at some comic in the backpack of Harold's archenemy, Garvin Snood, and the action only gets faster from there.
If you like candy, cute fuzzy things, more candy, cute puppies, even more candy, and really long loud burps this book is for you.  Patrick Carman's funny middle grade side shows up again and right in the middle of the Voyagers ride, wow that is a ton of awesome writing. The illustrations by Brian Sheesley are totally out (or maybe I should say under) this world they really rock, and make this book even more awesome.

CTRL ALT Revolt (ADULT AUDIO)

Are you a gamer? Do you like computers? Do you like Sci-Fi? Then this is the book for you!!! Nick Cole hit this out of the park, sorry publishing world, you missed out on this one, but I am so glad Nick Cole self published Ctrl Alt Revolt.  Because this book is AWESOME!!!  Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know I am always partial to these kids of books, but really you can't miss out on this one, it is the prequel to Soda Pop Soldier, which I am now looking forward to reading, it is really very good.
There are two story lines going on, one is a Star Trek role playing game going on and the other is a real life battle for a secret project hidden at the center of Wondersoft's design center that will pit the geeks left at Wondersoft against the hacker attackers.  I also loved Mr. Cole's use of diverse characters, that also heightened my love for this book as we still are not seeing enough diverse books in our society, and to make her such a strong willed, female character, just made my day, thank you Mr. Cole!!!
I actually had the audio version of the book narrated by Mare Travathan, who is a very talented narrator, giving each character a different voice and really giving this story a heartbeat of her own, she made me feel as though I was there fighting for my life with 99fish and on the deck of the Intrepid. Wow, let just say some parts were intense.
But whether you go with the book or the audio you are going to love this one it is full of non-stop action as I am guessing Soda Pop Soldier will be when I get it.

Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (ADULT AUDIO)

This was a awesome face paced hold on to your hat the world is spinning way to fast kind of book!  Oliver goes to work one morning same as always, than wham! The you know what hits the fan and Oliver is left to fix it because he is the seventh son of a seventh son.  Only his dad never got to the part of telling him all the seventh son secrets.  That is when Oliver, his girlfriend, Oliver's dog, and you the reader go on this amped up roller coaster rise to save the world from the NWO-(New World Order) Cult, and total annihilation.
While author Hank Garner does a excellent job developing the characters, keeping the story moving at a break neck speed, having it all make complete sense,  and not to mention having us the readers screaming for more at the end.
You might also want to choose to try the audio version narrated by Patrick Conn who does a awesome job with all the different characters, he even at time throws in a little southern drawl with some of Oliver's older relatives.
Whether you choose the book or the audio Seventh Son of a Seventh Son will not disappoint.  The only question is, when is part 2 coming out?

Saving the Last Dragon (YA AUDIO)

When Duncan took on the story writing assignment and started his dragon story, it just seemed to come to him each night in his dreams.  I don't think he ever thought it would take him into other worlds with wizards and real dragons, especially his friend Balinor, who helps him on his quest to save the last dragon.
This story was well written with wonderful characters.  Narrator Fred Wolinski did the most wonderful job with the old language, speaking it like he has spoken it his whole life.  It was very impressive, and a great reason to opt for the audio if you are like me and that type of thing throws you for a loop.  Fred Wolinski's use of different  voices for each of the characters also makes this story so easy and wonderful for everyone to listen too even though this is a young adult book it is a great story every age will want to listen too.  The great part is the diversity Mr. Broadmeadow brings to this book is so wonderfully done and shows the tenacity and determination one can put forth.  My favorite line in the whole book is when Balinor tells Duncan that when the quest is over he will come back and kill disease for him.  If only.

The Summer I Became A Nerd (Nerd, #1): Synopsis: On the outside, seventeen-year-old Madelyne Summers looks like your typical blond cheerleader—perky, popular, and dating the star quarterback. But inside, Maddie spends more time agonizing over what will happen in the next issue of her favorite comic book than planning pep rallies with her squad. That she’s a nerd hiding in a popular girl’s body isn’t just unknown, it’s anti-known. And she needs to keep it that way.   Summer is the only time Maddie lets her real self out to play, but when she slips up and the adorkable guy behind the local comic shop’s counter uncovers her secret, she’s busted. Before she can shake a pom-pom, Maddie’s whisked into Logan’s world of comic conventions, live-action role-playing, and first-person-shooter video games. And she loves it. But the more she denies who she really is, the deeper her lies become…and the more she risks losing Logan forever.

  romancing the nerd
Title: Romancing the Nerd (Nerd, #2)
Author: Leah Rae Miller
Release Date: Apr. 5, 2016
  Genre: YA Romantic Comedy

Dan Garrett has become exactly what he hates—popular. Until recently, he was just another live-action role-playing nerd on the lowest rung of the social ladder. Cue a massive growth spurt and an uncanny skill at taking three-point shots in basketball and voilĂ ...Mr. Popular. It's definitely weird. And the biggest drawback? Going from high school zero to basketball hero cost Dan the secret girl of his dorky dreams. A band geek with an eclectic fashion sense, Zelda Potts's “coolness” stat is about minus forty-two. Dan turning his back on her and the rest of nerd-dom was brutal enough, but when he humiliates her at school, Zelda decides it's time for a little revenge—dork style. Never mind that she used to have a crush on him. Never mind that her plan could backfire big time. It's time to roll the dice...and hope like freakin' hell she doesn't lose her heart in the process.

Read below for an excerpt from Zelda's POV:
A tingle runs down my spine and stops in my stomach where it seems to bounce around, ping-ponging all over the place. My determination melts away and I grin. It’s a familiar grin, the kind that happens when a gif of a hot guy holding a puppy pops up on my Tumblr feed. But it feels unfamiliar in these circumstances. In real life. Caused by and directed at him.

Read below for an excerpt from Dan's POV:
One side of Zelda’s mouth lifts in a defiant grin and her hazel eyes go from plain to nebula-like. My mind is telling me that the attraction I’m feeling can be chalked up to hormones and instinct. The rest of me just wants to see if her lip gloss doesn’t only smell like cotton candy but tastes like it, too.
